Office of Sustainability Releases Earth Month Annual Progress Updates

In honor of Earth Month, the Office of Sustainability is proud to share with you the impactful work underway across the University to reduce our environmental impact under Plan 2030.

Columbia's academic breaks are not only looked forward to by Columbia's students, but Facilities and Operations as well.  While most are away, Facilities and Operations is able to perform a wide range of work as it has a smaller impact upon a less populated campus.

Executive Vice President for University Facilities and Operations David M. Greenberg was named to New York Build’s “Construction Idols” shortlist for 2023, recognizing leaders in New York City’s construction industry. 

Columbia University Facilities and Operations has completed a pilot program to replace incandescent light bulbs with LED light bulbs in eight campus buildings – comprised of nearly 1.2 million square feet and 11,000 fixtures – to help reduce the University’s energy consumption.

Facilities and Operations has released new design guidelines for laboratory and research facilities on all Columbia campuses, serving as an outline for Columbia project managers, architects, engineers, and laboratory design consultants to create consistently designed, best-in-class environments for researching and teaching.
