Columbia University Facilities and Operations Wins Energy Industry Award For Entire Northeast Region
The accolades for Columbia University’s district energy system and related energy initiatives continued when The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) named Columbia University winner of the Institutional Energy Management for the entire northeast region covering ten states from Delaware up to Maine. The AEE, a nonprofit professional Association of over 18,000 members, presented the award to Columbia along with other award winners at the 40th annual World Energy Engineering Congress in Atlanta in late September.
The Jerome L. Greene Science Center and Lenfest Center for the Arts – the first two new buildings constructed at Columbia’s Manhattanville campus – have been awarded LEED® Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) under the New Construction rating system.
Columbia’s La-Verna Fountain receives Outstanding Professional Achievement Award from Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce
La-Verna Fountain, vice president of Strategic Communications and Construction Business Initiatives at Facilities and Operations, received the 2017 Outstanding Professional Achievement Award during the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce’s 37th annual New York City Economic Development Day held at Columbia University’s Lerner Hall on August 10.
In recognition of a career spent taking action in large and small ways to make the world a better place, La-Verna Fountain was honored by the Harlem Business Alliance with its "Woman of Action" Award at the organization's 36th annual awards celebration on May 3, 2017. Fountain is Vice President for Strategic Communications and Construction Business Initiatives at Columbia University Facilities and Operations.
Tanya Pope, assistant vice president for University Supplier Diversity & Business Integration at Facilities and Operations, was recognized with a 2017 corporate social responsibility award from City & State magazine. The award honors Pope for her leadership in advancing diversity opportunities for university suppliers and demonstrating corporate responsibility in the workplace.
