Locks and Maps Available for NYC Bike Month!

This year's Bike Month NYC is the eighteenth annual celebration of bicycling in metropolitan New York. You can choose from over 200 rides, classes, races, movies, culinary events and art exhibits; plus you'll have lots of chances to meet important City and elected officials.

May is Bike Month in NYC! The Department of Transportation has reported and increase of 35% bike riders in NYC in 2008.

This year's Bike Month NYC is the eighteenth annual celebration of bicycling in metropolitan New York. You can choose from over 200 rides, classes, races, movies, culinary events and art exhibits; plus you'll have lots of chances to meet important City and elected officials. So, grab a friend, get ready and ride! Request a Bike Month NYC Calendar to be sent to your home, and check out http://www.bikemonthnyc.org/  for tips on how to start your biking adventure.

Need a bike map for NYC ... CU Public Safety have FREE NYC Bike maps for 2009, the best bike map out there! You can pick them up at the following locations:

  • Morningside Campus- Low Library room 111 Public Safety Office
  • Medical Center- Black Bldg. room 109 Public Safety Office

Need a bike lock ... CU Public Safety sells discount bike locks at cost: 

  • The Club U-Lock- $15
  • Kryptonite Evo U-lock- $30
  • Kryptonite NY U-Lock- $50              (Comes with NY anti-theft insurance)
  • Kryptonite NY Forgetaboutit- $75     (Comes with NY anti-theft insurance)

Bike Locks can be purchased at:

  • Morningside Campus- Low Library room 111 Public Safety Office  Mon-Fri   9am-5pm
  • Medical Center- Black Bldg. room 109 Public Safety Office 24 hrs

Please avoid any type of cable type lock to secure your bike, they can be easily cut.  Always use a good U-lock to secure your bike frame & tire to a bolted down bike rack.
