Please join me in welcoming back Mr. Demosthenes M. Long as our new Director of Operations, Morningside Campus.   Mr. Long has a wealth of experience in law enforcement and corporate security training and management.  Besides his prior service here as the Assistant Director for Training and Development, Mr. Long served more than twenty years with the New York City Police Department before retiring as an Assistant Chief in 2002.  During his tenure, he served as the Commanding Officer of the Police Academy as well as the Commanding Officer of the School Safety Division. He left the Police Department to join Keyspan Energy where he served as the Director of Corporate Security.  He returned to public service in 2005 as the First Deputy Commissioner for the Westchester County Department of Public Safety. Most recently, "Doctor Long" has graced the halls of academia as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Security at Pace University.

Mr. Long holds a Doctor of Education degree from St. John Fisher College, a Juris Doctor from New York Law School, and a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College.  I am confident that he will bring a passion for excellence to the department as he leads Morningside Operations to ever-higher levels of Pride, Professionalism, and Service.

Welcome back, Monte!

James F. McShane, Vice President of Public Safety
