MWL Mentees and Construction Industry Leaders Discuss PLAs at University-held Information Session

On January 14, 2011, Columbia University and the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS) held an information session for Minority-, Women-, and Locally-owned (MWL) Construction Trades Management Certificate/Mentorship Program participants. Approximately 35 business owners attended the event, held at the University's Morningside campus, where they learned from a panel of industry experts and gained insight into New York City's Project Labor Agreements (PLAs). Guest speakers included Hank Kita, senior vice president, Building Trades Employers Association; Jennifer Redmond, Redmond Law Firm Inc.; and John Spavins, coordinator of labor initiatives, Mayor's Office of Contract Services. Above: Jennifer Redmond listens to questions and comments from the business owners.
