Dodge Disability Elevator Rehabilitation

By
Office of the Executive Vice President
July 09, 2007

Starting on Monday July 9, 2007, and lasting for approximately six (6) weeks, the Dodge disability elevator will be out of service for renovations. Rehabilitation will include replacement of the existing control to a state of the art solid state controller, new hydraulic system, new car and hall push button stations, new interior panels, new cab lighting and panels.

During this time, we ask that people with disabilities use the Kent Hall passenger elevator to get to and from Upper Campus. To assist you, the College Walk entrance at Kent will be staffed by a Public Safety officer and open for extended after hour use. The extended hours will be from the 5 PM until 10 PM Monday through Friday and from 9 AM until 3 PM on Sundays.

For access during times other than the normal business and/or extended guard service coverage, please use the blue light emergency call box in front of Kent to contact the Public Safety desk. The desk officer will dispatch a Public Safety Officer to the main entrance of Kent to assist with access.

If you have any questions about this work, please contact the Facilities Services Center at x4-2222. For more information on campus accessibility, please visit Disability Services web page at http://www.health.columbia.edu/docs/services/ods/maps.html. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the accessible facilities on campus.
