Dear Colleagues:
The 2017 Annual Campus Steam Shutdown is scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. with service restored at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017. This shutdown is necessary to facilitate needed repairs and maintenance to the campus steam system that cannot be performed during normal operations. Maintenance activities will be performed in mechanical spaces and will not be visible to most staff and visitors.
Please be aware that heating services in academic buildings– including heat, hot water and humidification – will not be available during the steam shutdown. Air conditioning will operate as normal. Facilities will make every effort to maintain normal building temperatures during this time. Please contact the Facilities Services Center immediately at x4-2222 if there are any unexpected issues or concerns.
Additional Maintenance Work: Northwest Corner Building Fume Hood Shutdown – A comprehensive maintenance of the building’s central fume hood exhaust system will be performed on Friday, May 19 starting at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 7:00 p.m. Fume hoods will be unavailable for use during this time and until recertification occurs.
