Columbia Residential Partners with Rent College Pads to Host Virtual Off-Campus Housing Fair

August 12, 2021

Columbia Residential partnered with its off-campus housing site provider Rent College Pads to host a virtual off-campus housing fair on August 4, providing Columbia students who are considering living off-campus for the upcoming academic year. The webinar provided participants tips for finding an apartment in New York City answers frequently asked questions, and details on how to use the Rent College Pads site for finding an apartment, posting a sublet, and searching for roommates.

Presented by Susan Saar, manager within Columbia Residential, along with Rent College Pads’ Chief Marketing Officer Jeremy Schmidt and Customer Service Lead Mia Jennaro, the live session offered participants tools on navigating the New York City rental market to find an apartment. Topics covered during the session included when and how to begin the housing search, the most convenient neighborhoods to live in while working or studying at Columbia, financial and personal documentation required to qualify for and rent an apartment, details on how guarantors work, how to avoid and report a rental scam, and how to use Columbia Residential’s Off-Campus Housing Marketplace to search for housing.

“After enhancing the Housing Portal to make it easier to find and book housing with Residential and almost fully booking our inventory by June, we are pleased to have been able to provide additional support and tangible tips to make the process of finding an off-campus apartment a little easier for those who were unable to receive housing with Columbia Residential,” said Director of Leasing Operations Leilani Reynolds.
