Columbia's Historic Preservation Team on the Restoration of St. Paul's Chapel

July 13, 2022

St. Paul’s Chapel, designed by Isaac Newton Phelps Stokes, is an iconic campus venue and one of only three landmark buildings on campus.

In 2017, Facilities and Operations began a two-year historic restoration of the 110-year-old Chapel to replace the terra cotta tile roof and perform repairs to the facade. The project also included the repair and cleaning of the interior Guastavino tiles, restoration of upper stained-glass windows, installation of an apse copper roof, restoration of the pipe organ, and more.

Hear from the Historic Preservation project team about the restoration process in the video linked above. For more information on the project, visit the St. Paul's Chapel Restoration project page.
