Facilities and Operations (CUFO), in partnership with the School of Professional Studies (SPS), hosted a “lunch and learn” event in October to introduce CUFO officers to SPS’s Master of Science in Construction Administration program. More than 35 Facilities and Operations staff members attended the program to familiarize themselves with an educational offering that many of their colleagues have benefited from.
Executive Vice President for University Facilities and Operations David M. Greenberg welcomed attendees and underscored SPS’s role as a valued partner to the CU Grow program and to the continuous learning and professional development within Facilities and Operations.
As a graduate of the program, Greenberg shared his personal experience and highlighted four key outcomes of the program for CUFO staff: enhancing operational efficiency, improving cost management, strengthening risk mitigation, and implementing sustainability initiatives and innovative technology.
A panel of SPS alumni, including CUFO’s Maria Bootsma and CUIMC’s Diana Meija, along with SPS Construction Management Director John Parkinson, discussed the curriculum, the time commitment, the networking opportunities with peers, and the career-advancing benefits of the program. They encouraged employees to explore the program’s degree as well as non-degree seeking course options to determine if the program is a good fit.
