Lower Campus Accessibility Ramp Installation

During the summer of 2018, Facilities and Operations began constructing a permanent accessibility ramp to the west side of Hamilton Hall, connecting College Walk and Lower Campus.  When completed, this permanent ramp will replace the temporary metal ramp that had been in place previously and improve access between residential and academic buildings.

Progress on the Lower Campus Accessibility Ramp

The portion of Centennial Path adjacent to the construction of the new ramp near Hamilton Hall will reopen on Wednesday, September 12 while construction of the ramp and steps is completed. When it reopens, Centennial Path can be used as an accessible route to Van Am Quad and its surrounding buildings (Hamilton, Hartley, Wallach, and John Jay), no longer requiring the use of the pathway in front of Butler Library. Please reference the attached map for the updated route as of Centennial Path’s reopening on September 12.

Disability access between College Walk and Lower Campus will remain limited to the ramp adjacent to Pulitzer Hall until the project is complete. The project is anticipated to be completed by early October.

Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions concerning access during this time. We appreciate your understanding as we continue to work to improve the campus experience.
