Columbia University Facilities is repaving the herringbone-patterned brick pavers on both sides of the Amsterdam entrance to campus at 116th Street.

The existing pavers had become uneven and irregular with age. This project is scheduled to be completed in mid-April. If you have any questions or concerns about this project or its impact on your campus experience please contact the Columbia University Facilities Services Center at (212) 854-2222, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Pavers 101

These brick pavers are the campus standard 4" by 8" English Edge Red. They are installed by first setting them into a bed of cement, spreading sand on top, then laying the pavers in the desired pattern (in this case narrow side up). No adhesive is used other than the weight of the paver itself.
