Columbia Brings Family-owned Ice Cream Shop to Morningside Heights

June 22, 2022

An old fashioned ice cream shop has joined Morningside Heights and Manhattan Valley, right in time for summer.

Columbia University retail tenant Trudy's Ice Cream opened their new location on 975 Columbus Ave. (at 108th Street) in June. Trudy's makes their ice cream in-house and offers a unique selection including Peanut Butter, Bacon Maple Walnut, Pumpkin Pecan, German Chocolate, and Coffee Toffee Crunch, which can be paired with cinnamon crisp waffle cones. In addition to ice cream cones, Trudy's will also serve milkshakes, ice cream sundaes, banana splits, and more. Trudy's is a family-owned business that has been selling ice cream since 1949.

The opening of Trudy's follows Columbia University's long-standing retail approach which favors businesses that bring a variety of amenities and experiences to the diverse Columbia community and surrounding community. Trudy's Ice Cream joins several other businesses that have recently opened or signed leases in Columbia buildings in Morningside Heights and Manhattanville, including Oliva Tapas, Manhattanville Market, Hex & Co., and Sapp's Restaurant.

Trudy's hours of operation will be 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday. To learn more, visit Trudy's website and read this feature in the West Side Rag.
