Dos Toros to Open New Location in Morningside Heights this Fall

July 16, 2019

Dos Toros, a fast-casual restaurant known for NorCal–inspired Taqueria cuisine, has signed a lease with Columbia University to join the Morningside Heights neighborhood.

At its new location at 2911 Broadway (between 113th and 114th Streets), Dos Toros will serve customizable burritos, burrito bowls, salads, tacos, quesadillas and nachos made with 100 percent naturally raised meats.  A full catering menu will be available.

The New York City-based business was founded in 2009 by brothers Leo and Oliver Kremer and opened its first location near Union Square. The brand has since expanded to over 20 locations in New York City and Chicago. Committed to sustainable practices, Dos Toros composts kitchen food waste, plates, utensils, cups, straws, and napkins, and uses tables made from reclaimed wood.

Dos Toros’ commitment also extends to the community. In addition to partnering with the Food Bank for New York, South Bronx United and other charities throughout the New York area, Dos Toros was honored as the 2016 Employer of the Year for their dedication to employing formerly incarcerated individuals through the Getting Out and Staying Out program, which is based in Harlem.

Columbia University owns and manages retail space across the Morningside and Manhattanville campuses, and its long-standing retail approach favors businesses like Dos Toros that bring a variety of amenities and experiences to the Columbia campus, the wider local community and visitors.

Jones Lang LaSalle’s Amy Zhen, Davie Berke, Claire Smith, and Patrick Smith brokered the deal on behalf of Columbia, and SRS Real Estate’s Mark Tedeschi and Adam Langer represented Dos Toros.

The new Dos Toros location joins Elysian Fields Café, e’s BAR, and Wu and Nussbaum as other Columbia University retail tenants to have opened or signed in the Morningside Heights neighborhood this year.
