Women-Owned Fitness Co-op Becomes First Retail Tenant at Columbia Business School’s Kravis Hall in Manhattanville

October 25, 2023

Method Collective, a women-owned, mat-based movement space, has signed a lease with Columbia University to open a new location at Columbia Business School’s Henry R. Kravis Hall, providing a physical home after launching in the adjacent West Harlem Piers Park.

Founded in 2023 by Leah Roth, Patricia Ruiz, and Dani Zuccheri, Method Collective believes in holding a diverse, judgment-free fitness space that allows patrons to curate their personal routine to fit their needs. Method Collective offers yoga, pilates, and other fitness classes. The new 1,700 square-foot space in Henry R. Kravis Hall will establish a permanent home for Method Collective where classes can be held year-round. Method Collective is anticipated to open its studio by first quarter 2024.

The signing marks the first retail tenant in Henry R. Kravis Hall within one of the building’s four micro-retail spaces along 12th Avenue. These spaces, each sized under 2,000 square feet, are designed to attract entrepreneurial tenants like Method Collective by offering a unique opportunity to develop their businesses.

“With over 40 years of experience collectively within the fitness and wellness industry, Method Collective provides the expertise and variety to meet each client where they are for an unparalleled mind-body experience. Since we all met and live in upper Manhattan, we were always interested in starting Method Collective in our neighborhood. This new space for Method Collective is the perfect location to bring our vision to life. We are so excited to bring a sense of community to not only the students and faculty at Columbia but our surrounding neighbors as well,” said Dani Zuccheri, Leah Roth, and Patricia Ruiz, co-owners of Method Collective.

Ken Hochhauser and Yoel Gorjian of WRG Winick Realty Group LLC brokered the deal on behalf of Columbia, while Method Collective was self-represented.

Columbia owns and manages retail space across the Morningside and Manhattanville campuses, and its long-standing retail approach favors businesses that bring a variety of amenities and experiences to Columbia and its local communities. Method Collective adds to the roster of specialty retailers at the Manhattanville campus including Oliva Tapas, Manhattanville Market, Vital Climbing, Dear Mama Coffee, and Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.
