Miznon Signs Lease to Open New Location in Morningside Heights

October 14, 2022

Miznon, an international Mediterranean restaurant by Israeli-celebrity Chef Eyal Shani – referred to as a "line-inducing pita chain" by Eater NY – has signed a lease with Columbia University to open a new outpost in Morningside Heights.

At its new location at 2895 Broadway, Miznon will offer a menu of Mediterranean street food and pita sandwiches, made with fresh vegetables and seasonal ingredients.

Miznon first opened in Tel Aviv in 2011 and has since expanded to Paris, Vienna, Melbourne, Singapore and Boston. Miznon’s Morningside Heights location marks its fifth in New York City, alongside spots in Chelsea Market, Hudson Yards, The Hugh, and Swingers Crazy Golf Club.

A selection of Miznon catering options, including an assortment of pitas, green beans, peppers, and baby cauliflower.

In addition, Chef Shani has four full-service restaurants in New York City, including North Miznon, an Upper West Side dinner locale featuring a daily-rotating menu of Israeli Cuisine, the signature HaSalon, Naked Tomato, and Shmone.

Columbia University owns and manages retail space across the Morningside and Manhattanville campuses, and its long-standing retail approach favors businesses like Miznon that bring a variety of amenities and experiences to the Columbia and local communities. Miznon joins FIELDTRIPSapp's RestaurantLoco Coco, and Trudy's Ice Cream as other Columbia retail tenants to have opened or signed leases in the Morningside Heights neighborhood this year.

Kenneth Hochhauser of Winick Realty Group brokered the deal on behalf of Columbia, and Yoel Gorjian of Winick Realty Group represented Miznon.

Miznon's new Morningside Heights location is anticipated to open in 2023.
