Henry Clemente, a head cleaner with Facilities and Operations, knows every nook and cranny of the Morningside campus. He shares the spots every newcomer should know.

Summer is a busy time for Facilities and Operations. Although construction occurs throughout the year, the summer allows Facilities and Operations to perform a wide range of campus improvements when the campus is less populated, lessening the impacts to the greater campus community.

As part of the annual Back to School Supply Drive hosted by the West Harlem Development Corporation, the NYPD 26th Precinct, and the Manhattan Community Board 9, Facilities and Operations-led departments -- Public Safety and Construction Business Initiatives – teamed up with Columbia Community Services (CCS) to collect school supplies for students in the local community. 

Facilities and Operations staff from across the organization attended a session led by The Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center.

On Thursday, August 31st, 2023, Facilities and Operations will support the 8th Annual Back-2-School community event being held at Old Broadway between 125th and 126th Street, from 1 - 5 p.m. and hosted by the 26th Precinct Community Affairs along with Manhattan Community Board 9, featuring a school supplies distribution, entertainment, refreshments, and other back-to-school resources.

Columbia University Facilities and Operations (CUFO) showcased its commitment to fostering economic inclusivity at the distinguished 2023 Ascend National Conference held in July at Loyola Marymount University. The two-day event brought together program managers across the national Ascend ecosystem and focused on providing minority-owned businesses with personal strategies for growth.

In alignment with the University's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, Columbia University Facilities and Operations (CUFO) established an Equity and Inclusion (E&I) Council in 2022, comprised of 19 members and seven advisors from various departments within the organization.

FIELDTRIP, a fast casual rice bowl restaurant by James Beard Award-winning chef JJ Johnson, is the newest Columbia University retail tenant to open its doors in Morningside Heights.

For the past five years, Campus Operations has helped Columbia Engineering's Formula SAE Racing team to test the cars they fabricate. From vehicle testing and troubleshooting, to setting up a test race track on campus, to providing logistical assistance outside of campus, Campus Operations is proud to assist the racing team in preparation for competition.

The annual Circle of Excellence Awards, organized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), recognize exceptional achievements in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising, and marketing.

The Facilities and Operations (CUFO) Equity & Inclusion (E&I) Council invited members across departments to join their colleagues as proud allies to celebrate and commemorate Pride Month, honoring the LGBTQIA+ equal rights movement and community.
