This summer, 11 local high school students gained hands-on experience across Columbia University Facilities and Operations teams, developing skills in areas such as technology, construction management, finance, and AI while participating in professional development programming.

This summer, Columbia University Facilities and Operations hosted 5 local high school interns as part of an annual internship program in partnership with New York City Career and Technical Education. Throughout the six-week program, students gained valuable career development and practical work experience that complemented their studies and career goals, while exploring Columbia’s three main campuses and getting to know different teams in facilities management.
Columbia University signed onto the NYC Mayor's Office of Food Policy Plant-Powered Carbon Challenge in December 2023 as the first of 18 "inaugural signatories." In its first annual report, the Mayor's Office recognizes Columbia as a key participant. Read the report.
Hajis, a new deli and juice bar, will be opening in late September at the location formerly occupied by Hamilton Deli at 1129 Amsterdam Ave. (between 115th and 116th Streets).
Upside Pizza and Softside Ice Cream have signed a lease as Columbia University’s newest retail tenants to join the Morningside Heights neighborhood. Both Upside Pizza and Softside will be located at 2878A Broadway in the former Liberty House space at the corner of 112th Street. The new pizza and ice cream shops are expected to open before the end of the year.
