On Wednesday, August 25, 2021, CUFO will support the 6th Annual Back-2-School community event being held at Old Broadway between 125th and 126th Street, from 1 PM - 5 PM and hosted by the 26th Precinct Community Affairs along with Manhattan Community Board 9, featuring a school supplies distribution, entertainment, refreshments, and other back-to-school resources.

Columbia Residential partnered with its off-campus housing site provider Rent College Pads to host a virtual off-campus housing fair, providing students who are considering living off-campus with tips on finding an apartment, answers to frequently asked questions, and details on how to use the Off-Campus Housing Marketplace site for finding an apartment, posting a sublet, and searching for roommates.

In support of Columbia Community Service’s Fight Against Hunger, departments in Facilities and Operations participated in a move-a-thon from June 14 to July 2, with each person choosing their own method of movement or exercise, all to benefit local organizations fighting hunger.  

Submit requests for Summer 2022 capital projects online at “Initiate a New Construction or Renovation Project” by logging in with your UNI and password. For projects that must be implemented over the Summer 2022, the deadline for submission is September 15, 2021.

Manhattanville Market, a new multi-concept food hall developed by renowned Chef Franklin Becker has opened in the Jerome L. Greene Science Center at Columbia’s Manhattanville campus. 

After spending eight months with the neuroscientists of Columbia University's Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute, Harlem-based artist Ivan Forde created paintings inspired by his conversations and experiences with the research teams.

The summer provides Facilities and Operations with an ideal opportunity to perform a significant amount of improvements on campus as some can only take place when the weather is warmer or the campus is less populated. As this summer is different from typical years, Facilities and Operations has planned work on a select number of projects to be less impactful to the relative increased level of activities taking place on campus this summer.

Columbia University recently donated new HP all-in-one printers to 25 non-profit organizations in Harlem and the surrounding community as part of Sustainable Columbia's ReUse Program.

Hex & Co., a board game café, has doubled in size after relocating to a new space two blocks north from their previous location in Morningside Heights.  The new location at 2911 Broadway (between W. 113th and 114th Streets) provides much needed space for Hex & Co to expand its dining, community programming, and private event offerings.

Congratulations to eight of our Facilities and Operations colleagues who have successfully completed their degrees this academic year at schools and programs throughout Columbia while balancing the demands of a full-time job for their intellectual and professional development. 

The plan provides a set of operational strategies and benchmarks, grounded in science, for Columbia to achieve its ambitious sustainability goals.

The CU Grow Vendor Development program hosted its first procurement event of 2021 on April 15, virtually bringing together the program’s fifth cohort of 21 minority-, women-, and locally owned (MWL) firms with program alumni and project managers from Columbia University Facilities and Operations.
