The lower-level event space in Lerner Hall is about to undergo a transformation worthy of its location on Broadway. 

Over the course of the next year, renovation will take place to create a world-class performance space for musical, dance, and artist performances, and arts-related programming and activities.

Columbia Housing, together with Facilities and Operations and other campus partners, is preparing to welcome undergraduate students to the residence halls later this month. Here's the schedule of activity on campus and around the neighborhood as students are welcomed home.

On Thursday, August 25, 2021, CUFO will support the 7th Annual Back-2-School community event being held at Old Broadway between 125th and 126th Street, from 1 PM - 5 PM and hosted by the 26th Precinct Community Affairs along with Manhattan Community Board 9, featuring a school supplies distribution, entertainment, refreshments, and other back-to-school resources.

Facilities and Operations has developed a new website for its Operations department. The new website provides a collection of information and resources to understand the roles and responsibilities of the Operations team and how to engage their services. Columbia University Facilities and Operations hosted Ascend Cities’ National Conference at Columbia’s Faculty House from July 12-14, bringing together the program’s partners, business owners, academics, and business community anchors from across the country to share best practices in supporting businesses owned by people of color, women, and veterans.

Loco Coco, a local vegan superfood café, is the newest Columbia retail tenant to open its doors in Morningside Heights.

The Columbia School of Professional Studies Construction Administration Program partnered with Columbia University Facilities and Operations and Balcony DAO, a leader in the Web3 Real Estate space, to host a symposium for cryptocurrency and decentralized finance (DeFi) at Columbia's Roone Arledge Auditorium during the week of the 2022 NFT 2.0 conference. The symposium focused on NFT’s and crypto-currency’s increased use in real estate and the built environment.

Columbia University retail tenant Trudy's Ice Cream opened their new location on 975 Columbus Ave. (at 108th Street) in June.

Senior Vice President of Columbia Health Dr. Melanie J. Bernitz was among the expert panelists at the Women Builders Council’s (WBC) AIM Leadership Forum, a two-day event held on June 16 and 17. The hybrid event consisted of a series of live and on-demand webinars and a national symposium that brought together engaging leaders from across the country to examine and develop a new blueprint for growing women in the construction industry.

Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism donated 58 sets of double lockers that were being replaced to Lincoln Hall, a Westchester-based non-profit boarding school for at-risk boys committed to helping youth and their families meet academic, behavioral, and employment goals.
