Columbia University Wins IIDA Interior Design Award for Li Lu Law Library

Columbia University was recognized by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) with an Interior Design Award for the Li Lu Law Library in Jerome Greene Hall. 

Facilities and Operations Human Resources (CUFO HR), in collaboration with Columbia University HR, led its third cohort through a six-week leadership development program.  

The University has committed $33 million to bring modern elevators, widened escalators, and other improvements to the station.

Congratulations to all of the Columbia University Facilities and Operations (CUFO) staff members who are graduating in 2026!  

Facilities and Operations is performing a number of projects across the Morningside campus over the summer, including improvements to grounds, residence halls, and more.

Columbia University was awarded LEED® Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for 600 W. 125th Street, a 34-story residential building for graduate students and faculty on the southwest corner of 125th Street and Broadway that opened in 2024.

Five residence halls across Columbia University's Morningside and Irving Medical Center campus in northern Manhattan have been made available to doctors and other healthcare workers so they can avoid long commutes and the risk of infecting others.

Many Columbia retail tenants near the Morningside, Manhattanville, and Irving Medical Center campuses have modified their service and remain open to fulfill takeout and delivery orders. We are providing a list of Columbia tenants that have informed us that they are open and providing service during this time.

Due to COVID-19, only essential personnel are required to be physically present on campus. Earlier this week, all academic and administrative buildings on the Morningside campus with card-reader-only access were set to weekend access.

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the University decides to offer two months of free rent to qualifying local businesses.  

Using the architect’s original plan as a guide, the Capital Project Management team led a two-year restoration project that earned the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s highest honors for excellence in preservation.

On February 19, Columbia Dining hosted its third annual “Food Fight” event as part of the Battle of the Dining Halls, an epic cook-off between the University’s three residential dining halls

Each year, Facilities and Operations utilizes winter break to perform a significant amount of projects across the University, many that could only have been completed when the campus is less populated.  This winter break was no different, with Facilities and Operations completing a wide range of projects at the Morningside campus, including grounds improvements, classroom upgrades, and public space refreshes. 

Dos Toros Taqueria, a fast-casual restaurant known for NorCal–inspired Taqueria cuisine, is the latest Columbia University retail tenant to open its doors.  Patrons can celebrate the opening with Dos Toros and receive a $5 burrito today (February 12) at their new location during the times of 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Vicki Dunn, Assistant Vice President of Dining, was recognized for the second time as one of the most influential women in the Education sector of Total Food Services list of Top Women in Metro New York Foodservice & Hospitality.

Inspired by work with the Earth Institute, Columbia Event Management is excited to offer a Sustainable Living menu curated to feature local ingredients, focusing on vegan and vegetarian options. Menu selections are updated frequently to reflect fresh and seasonal options. 

Columbia University has earned a Diamond Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC-NY) for the design and construction of the below-grade foundations for Columbia’s new Manhattanville campus.

Forty-five Columbia Residential operations and maintenance staff completed the 30-hour New York City Building Operator Training program to help improve energy efficiency of residential buildings and reduce operating costs. 

Columbia University Facilities and Operations Safety and Compliance held its second annual Safety Excellence Awards Ceremony at the Morningside campus on November 21, 2019 and at the Manhattanville campus on November 26, 2019, recognizing employees within Facilities and Operations for demonstrating exceptional workplace safety.
