An important message from the Columbia University Public Safety & Mail Services Teams

Fanny Gong, associate vice president of design management for the Manhattanville Development Group, participated on a panel at a higher education construction event on January 23, 2018 hosted by Professional Women in Construction (PWC). 

Campus Operations has launched an expanded cleaning program with the hiring of seven new custodians focused exclusively on cleaning and restocking restrooms within the 20 highest-trafficked buildings.

The Facilities Tigers won the ninth annual Columbia Community Service (CCS) charity basketball tournament.  The two-day event raised close to $5,000, which will be donated to CCS's annual appeal, supporting local food pantries, after-school programs, and community-based nonprofits. 

The Lenfest Center for the Arts, the second new building completed at Columbia’s Manhattanville campus, was recognized with a 2018 Merit Award in the Architecture category from AIA New York, the oldest and largest chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Extreme cold weather and high winds make buildings highly susceptible to dangerous or damaging situations, such as frozen pipes, flooding, flying debris and more. In light of these conditions, Campus Operations has mobilized added staff today, during the overnight, and through the weekend.

With the added staff and preventative measures already in place, we are taking all actions within our control to reduce the potential impact of the sub-zero temperatures. The 2017 Annual Morningside Campus Chilled Water Shutdown is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10:00 p.m. with service being restored at approximately 11:00 pm. on Thursday, December 28, 2017.  This shutdown is necessary to facilitate needed repairs and maintenance to the campus chilled water system that cannot be performed during normal operations.

Facilities and Operations is holding the next Clean + Go Green Event at the Morningside campus from Thursday December 7 to Friday December 8, 2017. We will make large bins available across campus, at no cost to you, for the recycling, reuse or proper disposal of large unwanted items.
