Minority-Owned, Independent Boxing Gym Opens in Morningside Heights

January 03, 2024

HIIT The Deck NYC, a minority-owned and community-centric boxing gym, is the latest Columbia University retail tenant to open near the University’s Morningside Heights campus.

Founded in 2020 by former professional fighters Stephen Frank and Ronson Frank, HIIT The Deck offers fitness classes that combine boxing fundamentals, conditioning and core training to elevate heart rates. At their new location at 2872 Broadway, HIIT The Deck will offer 60-minute classes at all levels, with small class sizes to allow instructors to focus on participants' form and technique. One-on-one and semi-private training sessions are also available.

This opening marks HIIT The Deck’s second indoor gym in New York City, following the opening of their South Street Seaport location in 2021.

Columbia University has a long-standing retail approach which favors local businesses that bring a variety of amenities and experiences to the diverse University community and surrounding neighborhood. HIIT The Deck joins several other local businesses that have recently opened or signed leases in Columbia buildings in Morningside Heights and Manhattanville, including Method Collective, FIELDTRIP, Ban Ban Shop, Miznon, and Sapp’s Restaurant.

HIIT The Deck is open seven days a week, and hours can be found on their website.
