Among the attendees were Columbia University Facilities and Operations (CUFO) military service members.

Columbia University’s new Business School buildings – Henry R. Kravis Hall and David Geffen Hall – have been selected as finalists in the World Selections of the Prix Versailles competition in the campus category.
The new Business School buildings – Henry R. Kravis Hall and David Geffen Hall – received the 2023 Urban Land Institute New York (ULI NY) Award for Excellence in Institutional Development at a gala reception on October 18 at Cipriani South Street. The statewide competition recognizes projects that demonstrate commitment to planning, design, sustainability, and community impact.

The award was received in the “University Renovation” category as part of Learning by Design’s Fall 2023 Architectural Interior Design Awards of Excellence competition which honors innovative and effective projects in K-12 and post-secondary education facilities across the country.
Method Collective, a women-owned, mat-based movement space, has signed a lease with Columbia University to open a new location at Columbia Business School’s Henry R. Kravis Hall, providing a physical home after launching in the adjacent West Harlem Piers Park.

Summer is a busy time for Facilities and Operations. Although construction occurs throughout the year, the summer allows Facilities and Operations to perform a wide range of campus improvements when the campus is less populated, lessening the impacts to the greater campus community.
As part of the annual Back to School Supply Drive hosted by the West Harlem Development Corporation, the NYPD 26th Precinct, and the Manhattan Community Board 9, Facilities and Operations-led departments -- Public Safety and Construction Business Initiatives – teamed up with Columbia Community Services (CCS) to collect school supplies for students in the local community.
Facilities and Operations staff from across the organization attended a session led by The Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center.
