While most were away during the summer, Facilities and Operations was busy improving the campus experience.  Similar to prior years, Facilities and Operations took advantage of the decreased campus population and warmer weather to complete a wide range of projects, large and small, some that can only take place when most are away. 

The CU Grow Vendor Development program hosted its third procurement event of 2019 featuring presentations from program alumni and University affiliates, as well as a legal firm that advises on debt collection and cash flow management.

Princeton Review recently released the ranking of "The 20 best college dorms in the US." Rankings were based on student ratings submitted to the publication for the article.

Columbia Dining's new website, architected based on direct feedback from students, provides helpful new functionality and improved menu accuracy via an interface that is just as intuitive and user-centric on mobile devices as it is on desktops and laptops.

When Columbia Athletics purchased a set of new lockers for the women’s softball locker room last month, a multi-departmental effort found a new home for the old lockers, which were still in good condition.

As part of the Columbia Sites initiative aimed at creating a consistent, mobile-responsive web presence for the university, Columbia Parking has moved all content and parking applications from facilities.columbia.edu to the Columbia Transportation website.

Based on student usage of satellite offices, Counseling and Psychological Services has redesigned the model of its drop-in services. Starting this fall, the drop-in model will offer two paths: Problem-Solving and Urgent Mental Health Concerns. 

On August 20, 2019, members of the Special Needs Activity Center for Kids and Adults (SNACK) toured the Jerome L. Green Science Center and the Lenfest Center for the Arts at Columbia University’s new Manhattanville Campus.

On August 9, 2019, employees from Columbia University and Turner Construction Company, Construction Manager for the new Columbia Business School buildings at the Manhattanville campus, volunteered to beautify the Columbia Secondary School (CSS) for Math, Science, & Engineering Community Garden.

After the successful move of University Hardware and Housewares across Broadway last summer, Blue Bottle Coffee, has signed a lease in the former Housewares space. Blue Bottle operates cafes popular in other university neighborhoods such as Harvard, MIT, Georgetown and NYU, and in select cities in the United States and Asia.  The location at 2901 Broadway in Morningside Heights will join 16 other locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
